Voice Technology: How it Compares

Paper Based Solutions allow errors to creep into your ERP system. When picking from paper, warehouse staff can easily pick, ship and ‘confirm’ an incorrect item with the tick of a pen. Office staff must issue an invoice by confirming pick slip details, another source of errors.

Scanning Systems reduce errors common in paper based systems by forcing each item to be scanned. Picking software rejects products which do not match the pick slip and ensures that items are not “over picked”. Pick slip data is automatically entered into the accounting system. Typically, the operator must pick up and put-down a scanner in between picking each item.

Vocollect Voice Directed Systems offer the accuracy of scanning systems with the increased speed of voice data entry. Picking is faster because there is no need to pick up and put down a mobile scanning terminal or read a screen/pick-list. Voice Technology: System Overview

  • System users are equiped with a personal headset and a Vocollect Voice enabled terminal from Vocollect.
  • Optionally, Vocollect Voice can be run on selected hardware from Intermec or LXE.
  • The operator is identified by plugging their personal headset into the mobile computer.
  • The WMS allocates work to each warehouse user.
  • Vocollect Voice delivers instructions to the picker via their headset.
  • The operator speaks their confirmation into a microphone.
  • The Voice Task on the terminal interprets the operators response and validates the user's actions.
